Thanks for the explanation. PS: it's best practice, though not enforced, to add a "source" field to the edits when saving, Indicating on what the edits were based on, that can be a simple as "survey" for things that are from direct inspection.

Hi and welcome to OSM. I notice that you removed a name from the road that you have previously added, but left the place=town tag that is likely wrong too (the place tag together with the name should either be on a node or on an area).

You changed a place node name from "Merton" to "Not Merton", that is unlikely to be the correct name. If the place doesn't actually exist you should simply delete the node in question. If there is another problem we can surely get to the bottom of it.
