Hello apgosm,

Andy from OSM’s Data Working Group here. We were alerted to your edits by this thread in the UK forum: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/unresponsive-uber-affiliated-user-making-incorrect-changes/142477 .

There are a few things that you need to do. What I’d do first is to reply to the posts in the forum explaining who you are, what you are doing, and who asked you to do that. I’d also explain what surveying you did before making these edits.

Secondly, it appears from https://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=22723753 that (as suggested in the forum) you owe replies to quite a few people, and not just in the UK. When you do reply, please don’t just say “I will try not to make that mistake in the future”; instead actually go back and correct your errors.

Your profile osm.org/user/apgosm says “I’m a member of the Uber map editing team”. That presumably means that Uber should be following the organised editing guidelines osm.wiki/Organised_Editing/Guidelines and https://osmfoundation.org/w/images/6/62/Organised_Editing_Guidelines.pdf and should have created an entry for this London activity at osm.wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities . I don’t see anything; only an entry that says “Improve the OSM walking/sidewalk data accuracy and fix the map road network” (a description that is worse than useless).

What Uber should be doing is laid out at the “Documentation on the wiki” section of https://osmfoundation.org/w/images/6/62/Organised_Editing_Guidelines.pdf . Please ensure that you create such documentation before any further organised edits by Uber.

What may also be helpful to you is the paragraph of the guidelines that says “If an organisation has many different activities, it can create one page for the organisation that lists the common elements, and point to that from each activity page”. We do see a page about your company osm.wiki/Uber , but that is largely information-free. No activities are linked.

I have sent this message as one that you have to read before continuing to edit. Please do ensure that Uber (both you and any other organised editors) do what is requested here before continuing “business as usual” editing. If you have any questions for the DWG directly please email [email protected] with a subject line of “[Ticket#2026032010000407] apgosm”.

Best Regards,

Andy
